If you bought D.C.’s latest original animated movie “Superman vs. The Elite”, then you were already treated to this 13-minute sneak peek featurette for the making of D.C./Warner’s next offering, an adaptation of Frank Miller’s 1980s seminal Batman story, “The Dark Knight Returns”. In fact, the story is so epic, D.C. and Warner Bros. will be splitting it into two parts. From the featurette, it looks like the first part will only deal with Batman’s re-emergence, as well as his battles with Two-Face and the Mutant Army. But from the sounds of it (or, ahem, laugh of it), the Joker is being saved for part 2. The big question is: will it just be the Joker, or will it also be a certain superpowered being with a big “S” on his chest, too?
Batman has not been seen for ten years. A new breed of criminal ravages Gotham City, forcing 55-year-old Bruce Wayne back into the cape and cowl. But, does he still have what it takes to fight crime in a new era?
Featuring Peter Weller as Bruce Wayne/Batman, David Selby as Jim Gordon, Ariel Winter as Carrie/Robin, and Wade Williams as Two-Face.
No word on a release date yet, but you’re probably looking at late 2012 or thereabouts, with Part 2 set for the following year in 2013.
