Man of Steel
June saw the long anticipated return of the first and most loved superhero, Superman to the big screen in Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel.” Produced by Christopher Nolan, with a script from David Goyer, we got a more realistic, but sci-fi take on the origins of the character. The second CBM of the year is also the MOST controversial CBM of the year. It split fans like the Red Sea. Not since Nolan’s own “The Dark Knight Rises” have I seen fans so divided. Like it or love it though, no one can deny it delivered on epic scale action the likes we’ve never seen before in a Superman movie. I personally loved this film, and thought it was a great modernization of the character, and his world. What I liked most is that they embraced the sci-fi aspect by concentrating on his alien heritage. Now we can spend the rest of the film focusing on his humanity, which is Superman’s strongest draw, while still keep his alien side a major part of the plot.

Read the 10 things about Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” that are still being debated here.

Movies, Comics, Anime and toons. I'm all about it. Love to read and write too.

Favourite live action of the year was definitely Man of Steel (watched it again last night) with Thor coming in second.
Favourite animated films were Dark Knight Returns part 2 (Mnr Weller somehow made a huge leap forward as the voice of Batman from part 1 to part 2) and Flashpoint Paradox.
Least Favourites were Iron (vomits a little in back of Mouth) Man 3 and Superman Unbound which, in the aftermath of Dark Knight Returns, came off as a little underwhelming.
Sigh it’s a good time to be a geek.

Pretty much the same for me for favs with the Live action.
Animated I really enjoyed TDKR but I have to put Flashpoint Paradox above it in terms of story and animation. But TDKR is definitely #2 Flashpoint is tied with Under the Red Hood for my all time favs. I liked Unbound but to me it was lacking some action, and they really could’ve let him cut loose.
It is indeed a good time to be a geek!

Finally got around to seeing KIck Ass 2 last night. Dunno why people hated it so much, sure its not perfect but I enjoyed it more than I did the previous one.

  • Sauron

At first i was pissed because the Mandarin not being real and ofc the villain was like not good enough but after a while when i was thinking about the film i really saw the big plot there. Imo they tried to show how a mare man deals with the life after the big event from the Avengers. Ofc he is Tony Stark (genious, billionaire … etc. etc.) but his experience so far is nothing compared to the others(Thor, HULK , Captain America). After all i like how the movie showed his struggle with accepting all that happened. It was funny, action was good and overall a solid performance. Big movies are coming up and we should look at the movies Marvel universe as something new and not to compare it with the comics and the animated movies. I am really looking forward with great expectations and a chill for the next movies and how they will show thing and what innovations will they present to the public. Cheers.
