Yeah, I’ll be the the first to admit it, I thought this movie would suck. I mean, why would you make a movie version of “21 Jump Street”? The TV show, albeit worthy of some nostalgic moments, wasn’t really all that great to begin with. (Face it, it was always kind of cheesy, even back in the ’80s.) But yes, this Red Band trailer is actually pretty damn funny. The fact that they make fun of Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill as way-too-old to be going back to high school and posing as students makes it doubly funny. Let me know if you disagree. (The Red Band designation is pretty much for language, and no naughty bits. Unfortunately.)
In the action-comedy 21 Jump Street, Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) are more than ready to leave their adolescent problems behind. Joining the police force and the secret Jump Street unit, they use their youthful appearances to go undercover in a local high school. As they trade in their guns and badges for backpacks, Schmidt and Jenko risk their lives to investigate a violent and dangerous drug ring. But they find that high school is nothing like they left it just a few years earlier – and neither expects that they will have to confront the terror and anxiety of being a teenager again and all the issues they thought they had left behind.
Starring Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Brie Larson, Dave Franco, Rob Riggle, Ice Cube and directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
Apparently there is a Johnny Depp cameo somewhere, so look out for that when the movie goes back to school March 16, 2012.
