Is this the one-sheet poster (bigger version below) for the vampire movie “30 Days of Night”? I don’t know, and neither does Bloody-Disgusting, who found it on the Myspace site of “30 Days of Night” original creator Steve Niles. Whether it is or not, it sure looks cool. Then again, I’m a sucker for vampire movies, and one set in Alaska? Sounds like “The Thing” crossed with “Vampires”, actually, which is a very good thing indeed.
Set in the isolated town of Barrow, Alaska, in the extreme northern hemisphere, which is plunged into complete darkness annually for an entire month. When most of the inhabitants head south for the winter, a mysterious group of strangers appear: bloodthirsty vampires, ready to take advantage of the uninterrupted darkness to feed on the town’s residents. As the night wears on, Barrow’s Sheriff Eben (Josh Hartnett), his estranged wife Stella (Melissa George), and an ever-shrinking group of survivors must do anything they can to last until daylight.
“30 Days and Night”, a movie adaptation of Steve Niles’ comic book, vamps out October 19, 2007. It stars Josh Hartnett, Melissa George, Danny Huston, Ben Foster and Manu Bennett.
Here’s the maybe-maybe not poster and some other images from the movie:
