Boom! Bang! Ka-blooy! Making an action movie is easy, especially if you have Hollywood’s resources. But sometimes even the big Hollywood movies go underappreciated upon release, destined to be forgotten and lost to the ashes of time aka the back rooms of Blockbusters. Hey, they can’t all be “Die Hard”, I guess. Well there were a lot of really good movies that have gone underappreciated all these years, and this list is determined to right that wrong. It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it. After all, did John Mclane shirk from his responsibilities? I don’t think so.

Yippey kiyay, mofos!

You forgot ‘Equilibrium’. Hands down the best action movie you’ve never heard of.

Not really. It’s since become a cult film so I can’t really call it “underappreciated”.

Best?! That movie was full of plot holes, the special effects was just passable and had a really boring ending scene.

The final scene was all symbolism right down to the shot setup with his eyes reflecting the chaos the same way it did with deckard in Bladerunner.

I came here to say the same thing!

Way of the Gun is way cool. I saw this movie a while back and absolutely loved it! In fact, I need to find the DVD and have this one in my collection. Streets of Fire is what made me fall hopelessly for Michael Pare way back when…and although it doesn’t date too well, it has a cool factor that can’t be beat.

  • Roger Mortis

I’ve seen all of these except for The Lost Batallion, and I agree, they’re all underappreciated. The Nest, especially, is an overlooked gem.
