So it’s a new year, and TV is about to start heating up again. I’m back to give you a rundown of some genre TV shows to look out for if you aren’t already on the bandwagon.
Young Justice: Invasion
This was a break out show for me and Cartoon Network as well. The end of last season led right into the next and a name change. There was an 8 year jump in the story, which had me worried a bit, but it was well handled. The team’s roster has been expanded, and several members are actually Justice League now. The relationships are complex, and the show, much like the last season of “Justice League: Unlimited” is more adult than you’d expect. However there are still some very fun moments. Currently on hiatus but returning soon, the invasion subplot seems to be taking center stage finally. This show has great art, great action, and great stories. If you’re a DC comics fan and you’re not watching this then you’re seriously missing out.
Green Lantern: The Animated Series
Not technically in the same universe as “Batman:TAS,” “Superman: TAS,” and the “Justice League” shows it is cut from the same cloth. The characters have the Bruce Timm signature top heavy style, but are taken into the 3rd dimension in CGI. The art reminds me of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” a bit but with Timm’s signature style. The action is well played and the first season’s story ended with a bang, leading right into new Tales of the GL Corps. The Sinestro Corps will most likely make their debut this season as Sinestro finally decides to break from the Corps, and I’m sure we haven’t seen the last of Atrocitus and his Red Lanterns. Also on hiatus but returning soon, Hal Jordan’s adventures will continue to excite, and this take on the mythology was welcomed.
Game of Thrones
Winter has Come!!! With one hell of a second season ending, “Game of Thrones” set up an epic third season. I don’t know what’s coming exactly but the fact that everyone in Westeros is completely oblivious to what’s coming their way, this can only go very badly. Expect some deaths, and of course intrigue, and deception. And the Dragons are growing up too! This season and next will encompass the story of the third book, which is supposedly the most epic in the series so I can’t wait. I just want to see my Imp be the little baddass that he is, and my little tomboy show the world what she’s made of. Bring on the Storm!
