8 Overlooked Films from 2012

Not every film hits the mark. Hell, some films don’t even get the chance to take aim at the mark, either going straight to DVD or getting buried on some distributor’s shelf, only to finally sneak their way onto the shelves of video stores around the country (they still have those, right?) years later. Or dumped onto VOD without fanfare, as is the fashion nowadays. Just to be clear: I’m not saying these movies are great or destined for cult classic status, but in my very humble opinion, they are very watchable, and definitely deserve a second look if you skipped them the first time around for whatever reason.

In no particular order…

Here is how Man With The Iron Fist got made, RZA was faaaaaar too high and wrote a kung-fu movie, based on this some suit buys it up thinking that a Wu Tang kung fu film will make some money, they then read what RZA has written and decide Eli Roth should probably have a look as it is total nonsense, he does the best he can but instead of making it good they just threw a bunch of money at it and got some stars and some fx. End product, shit film and all the weed in the world won’t mak it any better. Stick to beats RZA cos you are a G at that.

BTW: Universal Soldier Day of Reckoning is badass. Great fight scenes. Van Damme pays homage to Brando in Apocalypse Now. And they give you a bit of a mind fuck throughout.

Barf that universal soldier was by far the worst in the series and that is saying something!

    Really interesting list.

It’s always fun when you can find great, overlooked movies (like Stakeland), and the films on this list are both mostly unknown to me, and seem right up my alley. So, thanks for this.

Dredd and the Man with the Iron Fists were two of the worst movies ever made. Especially Dredd. So much of the movie made absolutely no sense and the action wasnt cool enough to make up for that.

I saw Dredd, film was ok, his stone face wans’t :D
