So Hollywood actors James Franco, Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson, Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel and Danny McBride decided they wanted to make a movie together in which they star as themselves, but instead of just six guys goofing off in Los Angeles, they are instead trapped in a post-apocalyptic movie about the end of the world. That’s essentially the basis of “This is the End” (formerly “The End of the World”), which finds Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg directing.
Check out the Red Band trailer below. The first minute is Rogen and Franco adlibbing gags. This is hilarious if you’re a fan of Rogen and Franco. If you happen to think they’re highly overrated, then it’s going to be like getting stabbed in the eyeballs. Repeatedly. For a minute.
Six friends are trapped in a house after a series of strange and catastrophic events devastate Los Angeles. As the world unravels outside, dwindling supplies and cabin fever threaten to tear apart the friendships inside. Eventually, they are forced to leave the house, facing their fate and the true meaning of friendship and redemption.
Also starring a bunch of other celebrities as themselves, including Michael Cera, Aziz Ansari, Emma Watson, Jason Segel, David Krumholtz, and Paul Rudd. Yeah, I have no idea how Emma Watson got roped into this, either.
It all ends June 14, 2013.
