A Couple of Nifty Fan Posters for The Avengers

Who doesn’t love fan posters? I do. Here are a couple more for Marvel Studios’ upcoming “The Avengers” that looks pretty nice. I like the symmetry in the first one, with Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury at the top, but why exactly is both Tony Stark and Iron Man in the poster? They’re, uh, the same guy, right? Using Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow “check out my butt” awkward photoshop pose from the “Iron Man 2″ posters was also a nice touch.

Anyways, the fan posters DailyBlam. We should be getting the real posters when Joss Whedon’s “Avengers” start getting closer to its May 4, 2012 release date.

They are both really good. I like the first one more, but the 2nd one with the image of Ruffalo as Banner in front of the Hulk is pretty sweet too. Hawkeye’s costume looks pretty decent, though i woulda left the mask out as I doubt they’re going to use it, and it kinda shows how strange it’d look in real life (same reason Wolverine never sported one in the live action films, the “wings” or whatever dont translate well), and the Sunglasses or goggled look woulda worked out perfectly to give the same feel. But all in all nice work.

I did those posters! The reason both Stark AND Iron Man are on the posters is…it’s like that on the official posters of “Iron Man” 1 & 2! Glad you like them!

They’re both very good. I like the second one better. The first one does have the same feel of IM and IM2. However Coulson is pictured in the first but no billing. I think that may be whay I liked the second better. Coulson is the man! I’m glad he’s getting a bigger part in Thor.

      • http://www.originalgeekspodcast.com/ Dedpool

Agreed! I really like Coulson. Great character and I hope they bring him into the comics eventually when S.H.I.E.L.D. is eventually reformed.

        • Juggernaut

I like Coulson but was alittle puzzled as to why they decided to create a character instead of just naming the character after one of the many S.H.I.E.L.D. agents that already exist. He could have been Clay Quartermaine or better yet Jasper Sitwell. Just me being anal.

          • http://www.originalgeekspodcast.com/ Dedpool

You know I was thinking the same thing. But hey I’m good with Coulsen.

Coulson is fine. I just didn’t see why they wouldn’t throw a nod to the comics. A lesser known character like Sitwell could have been a nice easter egg for the fans. Afterall he was Ironman’s liason (Im nad IM2) and an interogator(Thor). Hopefully more S.H.I.E.L.D. agents like Quartermaine as the head of the Hulkbusters or Maria Hill and G.W. Bridge. I can definately see members like Sharon Carter showing up in Captain America along with Fury, Dum Dum Dugan, Gabe Jones and the rest of the howling comandoes that have already been rumored to show up in the WWII portion of CATFA.

          • http://www.originalgeekspodcast.com/ Dedpool

Sharon Carter wont show up til sequel as she’s a modern character. Dum dum is in it though. I’d love to see G.W. Bridge played by like Charles S. Dutton, Chi McBride or Bill Nunn. No wait…Richard Roundtree!

          • Juggernaut

I was thinking Morgan Freeman based solely on his performance in Dreamcatcher. I could see Richard Roundtree or Bill Nunn 100%. I was hoping that they would play on the Peggy Carter/Steve Rogers/Sharon Carter scenario in the movie. I knewthat Dugan was in it. He is being played by Neal McDonaugh.

          • Ulik

A S.H.I.E.L.D movie is in the works, we’ll most likely see most of the characters you’ve mentioned in it. It’ll probably S.H.I.E.L.D v.s. A.I.M for the 1st movie then we’ll see M.O.D.O.K as one of the main baddies.

          • http://www.originalgeekspodcast.com/ Dedpool

They better make A.I.M. and M.O.Do.O.K. badass or it will be super cheesy!!

          • Juggernaut

A S.H.I.E.L.D. movie would be awsome! A.I.M. is definately the way to go. Having ties to already easter egged entities like Roxxon and Hammer would be cool too. I’m a little confused about the M.O.D.O.K. that you’re talking about though. Not the giant, floating head right?!?!? That is one character that I am admittadley not very knowledgable on. Maybe there was another itteration of the character that I’m not familiar with that was done well. Either way Fury and company on the big screen would be great!

Very nice stuff. I got the IM1&2 reference just from the look of the posters. I actually like that in the first poster IM and Start are on either side of Cap, and Hulk is just below Banner. Good stuff man. Good Stuff!

    • Ulik

Great job, very nice work. If you can do another, could you put some cool shades or goggles shaped a “a little” like Hawkeye’s mask on him? And if possible put Giant-Man and Wasp in it even in a subtle way? Good work though!

      • http://www.originalgeekspodcast.com/ Dedpool

No Wasp and no Giant Man UNTIL they are officially part of the cast. I like the fact that he’s only using people who are DEFINITELY in the film and not just making up his dream cast. We get enough of those already on the net. But I agree on the Hawkeye thing.

        • Ulik

That’s true you got a point there.

  • Ironfist fan# rogernator5000

I have seen the 2nd b4 but never the first I like them all though, 2nd is better, it would be cool if someone added a new girl even if the new girl part isn’t exact yet, someone could have put a hot girl in for miss marvel or mockingbird, and for some reason I keep thinking Lucy Lui for wasp

When Nick Fury shows up in The Avengers, I don’t want to see him wearing the “Shaft” look anymore. I want to see him wearing his official S.H.I.E.L.D uniform.

    • Sumitsu01

Why? No one wants to wear that ridiculous looking SHIELD suit. Not even the agents wear those suits. Let the man wear what he wants to wear.

      • Ulik

LOL! Yeah, light colored one is cartoonish but it can be done a more realistic way with the right color palette.

        • http://www.originalgeekspodcast.com/ Dedpool

It’ll probably be something like the G.I.Joe uniforms just not as armored and such and with a S.H.I.E.L.D. logo on the shoulder and the shoulder holster and straps.

    • http://www.originalgeekspodcast.com/ Dedpool

I doubt it. It’ll probably be a cross between some “futuristic” military and spy gear. They’ll probably do Black and Blue and not White and blue (I always thought that was a bit bright for covert ops and such LOL) and it’ll have a nod to the original look with the shoulder holster and straps. Look through Ult Fury’s looks when he’s in battle and you’ll get the idea of what they’ll probably do.

      • Juggernaut

The outfits from David Hasselhoffs masterpice Nick Fury Agent Of S.H.I.E.LD. weren’t bad. They were really the best part of the movie.

        • http://www.originalgeekspodcast.com/ Dedpool

Agreed! The uniforms really were the best part of the movie.

  • http://www.originalgeekspodcast.com/ Dedpool

@Juggernaut- I was thinking Morgan Freeman too, but then I was like “He’s Lucious Fox (not that he couldnt do both)” and then I was like it’d be cool to have both Shaft’s working for S.H.I.E.L.D. LOL!
Bill Nunn is always great, and so is Dutton (Legion).

Cap love triangle may be a little much to play up on right away. If anything I think it should be that he is attracted to SHaron because she reminds him of Peggy.

    • Juggernaut

I thought the same thing. Freeman is Lucious Fox. While I’m not the biggest fan of double dipping for comic movies, Freeman in Dreamcather just reminded me so much of G.W. that I had to throw out his name. The two shafts would be cool! Lol. They could include an inside joke in the script, that would be good. Charles S. Dutton reminds me a lot of the more recent, fatter and older Bridge. Laurence Fishburne and Forrest Whitaker could be cool too. As for the Cap/Sharon/Peggy thing that was exactly what i was thinking. Sharon reminds him of his long lost love. Unbeknownst to him they are related.

      • http://www.originalgeekspodcast.com/ Dedpool

Yeah Fishbourne could work, but Whitaker’s voice is too soft for me. Dutton was my choice for the older heftier Bridge.

    • Ulik

Richard Roundtree?! LOL! Ok. We’re just asking for a spoof when SLJ shows up as Nick Fury in the Avengers they’ll play the Shaft theme music by mistake or they might play the “Shaft In Africa” theme to make it a little more hip being that Jay Z rapped to the sample track of that song. “Show me watcha Lil HYDRA”.

  • http://www.originalgeekspodcast.com/ Dedpool

@ Juggernaut- Yeah we’re talking about the big floating head M.O.D.O.K. If done right (and made a little disturbing) M.O.D.O.K. could be pretty badass, cool, and scary. A killer cyborg that’s super smart.

    • Juggernaut

I don’t know… I was hesitant when I heard that Arnim Zola(practically the same premise) was going to be in CATFA. I like how they are just using him in the mad scientist capacity for now. Obviously he could become the screen in the body version from the comics at some point having not seen the movie yet but I think that would come off as too silly. Same with MODOK. I could see them refferencing the character in some way with an A.I.M. weapon or A.I. that would work. Sort of like a bad guy version of JARVIS.

      • http://www.originalgeekspodcast.com/ Dedpool

Well the character designs (which were on the net at some point) for Zola in the game were pretty cool looking and not cheesy at all. They’re probably gonna have him be injured during the first movie and become the walking tv set in the second. As for M.O.D.O.K. they could easily go with him basically being a brain inside3 this robotic body that has the huge head and small arms. The huge head would basically be the life support for the brain but it’d have this face that intimidated people. Or they could just go the actual comic route but design a cooler look for his giant (but not comically big) head and small limbs.

  • Juggernaut

@Dedpool, I feel that there needs to be a line drawn between suspende disbelief and utter ridiculousness. These films are all rooted in reality, albeit a hightened reality, but none the less reality. A preserved brain functioning and communicating through a monitor is not only unrealistic it is goofy. Even if you do give the idea a pass I don’t see how they could pull off that scenario without it looking silly.

    • Ulik

You disappoint me Juggy. Did you know that modern science has actually found ways to connect nerve endings of the brain or body to circuitry function through electronics and computer systems? Through brain wave patterns and the cones & rods in the eyes and it’s nerve endings connected to circuitry, a projection CAN be put on a screen. Essentially all they have to do is preserve the brain, link it’s nerve endings to a circuitry system while preserving it in vital fluids that would nourish the brain to keep it functioning. It’s not a far cry at all. I read back in 1994 that scientists were also working on organic computer systems. If they even had the balls to talk about it back then, then imagine what they are actually doing in underground labs now.

      • Juggernaut

I was actually thinking that it may be possible to do after I wrote my comment. I’m sure that modern science has alowwed something like this to be possible. I still think that a projection ot that brain function would be a bit of a stretch. Can it be done? I’m sure it can? Will it translate to film? That I’m not so sure of. There are some characters who should stay in comic form loke M.O.D.O.K. and the comics version of Zola. Not that I dislike the characters. I just can’t see them in a movie. A refference to the comic version of Zola would be cool for me. Have an android of HYDRA’s delivering a message to Red Skull, or whoever will be the main antagonist in the sequel to CATFA, on a monitor built into the android’s body. I also think that for a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie, having MODOK be the artificial intelligence for A.I.M. similar to Stark having JARVIS would be a good idea.

  • Ulik

As far as MODOK, it can be done. Example; if he’s a part of an experiment to expand his brain function, it could be made that his brain size grows to massive proportions due to the experiment causing his brain to begins to receive damage by crushing through his skull. They take the brain out before it hemorrages to death. They discard the body being that it no longer is of use as the brain would no longer be able to fit in the head anymore anyway. The brain grows so massive that they decide to construct a synthetic body around it with the use of a hover chair because the body wouldn’t be able to support the disproportionate weight of the head instead of building a giant body to accommodate the big head. It could work.

That could work. My idea would be to have Paul Ebersol(fixer II/Techno) design the technology and have HYDRA agent Marvin Flumm(Mentallo) be the guinnea pig who becomes MODOK.

      • Ulik

Great ideas, I think according to Marvel U I think George Tartelton(MODOK) volunteers to become MODOK while working for A.I.M then takes it over after his transformation.
