Chris Pine in Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) Movie Image

The boys and gals of the Enterprise are all loaded for bear and ready for action, if these new batch of images from J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek Into Darkness” are any indication. Benedict Cumberbatch, as the villain, also seems to be getting one heck of a work-out as he goes around doing villainous things. Like jumping through a glass window. Who knew glass windows in the future were so easy to break? Apparently you can just jump right through them like today’s windows. Huh. I’d expect maybe a little more innovation in, what, 200-300 years in the future?

Anyhoo. New images from “Star Trek Into Darkness”. Set your phasers on gander, ganderers!

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

“Star Trek Into Darkness” stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Alice Eve, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Peter Weller, Bruce Greenwood, and of course, the ‘Batch.

Trekking into theaters May 17, 2013.

Being one of the biggest Star Trek fans I really do want the movie to be a success but let’s face it JJ Abrams Trek is no way as good as the ‘real’ Star Trek either movies or series. I was watching over the DS9 series recently then it struck how good this series was.

I honestly do think that Abrams has ‘dumbed’ down Star Trek in order to appeal to a broader audience which is a real tragedy.
