A Freshly Grrl Powered Human Target Season 2 Returns Tonight

Adding a completely gratuitous tough talking female worked really well for “Dark Blue”. (Oh wait, no it didn’t.) Now that “Human Target” has gotten a new showrunner in Matt Miller (formerly of “Chuck”), they’ve decided to add not just one, but two tough talking female regulars. One can only hope the show doesn’t suffer “Dark Blue’s” fate as a result. Hey, I’m not saying there’s a corrolation, but I am saying when you voluntarily change up a show’s foundation so drastically in season two, you’re taking your life in your hands.

The show returns tonight for its Season 2 premiere, and apparently from the reviews I’ve read, that whole Season 1 cliffhanger gets resolved pretty fast, leading to the introduction of new castmember Indira Varma as Ilsa Pucci, a client who eventually becomes the team’s “benefactor”. I don’t get it. I kind of liked all those episodes where Chi McBride’s Winston is always worrying about paying the bills — now they won’t have to? Um, okay.

Janet Montgomery will also join the cast as a young thief named Ames. Apparently she’s supposed to be the female equivalent of Jackie Earle Haley’s Guerrero, only, you know, with breasts and no groovy mustache.

I’ll be honest with you, if Ames and Pucci become super annoying really fast, I’m tuning out of this show even faster.

Here are three previews for tonight’s premiere of “Human Target” Season 2:

But Nix, them having a bigger budget means bigger cases. As for the ladies, some eye candy (British accent is a plus too) and the rounding out of the cast should work well. One is the benefactor and SHOULD be tough talking to make sure her funds are properly used. The other should be tough talking AND acting so she’s the female counterpart to Chance. Also she’s gonna be behind the scenes and stuff, sneaking around while Chance is more out in the open. I’m sure they’ll have the mandatory episode where Chance has to pose as part of a couple with either one but still, doesn’t chang e things up too much. I mean other than the benefactor they had a character that was in and out before.

Eh, we’ll see. Adding a “hot girl” to the cast is usually a case of “jumping the shark”. When you do it in season 2, it’s cause for concern.

True True. But it really could add a new dimension to the show. Imagine a case where a male shadow just won’t work. Or needing a certain amount of money to enter a tournament/race/etc. These are just two examples of decent uses of the two characters.

Well I’m a person that never watched season 1 and now I’m watching the first episode of Season 2 and really enjoying it. So the adding of the two girls has upped the show viewership by at least one.

The two girls didn’t really add anything to the show… even though it’s my first watching the show. The psycho sidekick was pretty badass tho….and the Local Natives song playing at the end kind of made me like the show a little bit more.
