A Guy Wants to Turn the Videogame Painkiller into a Movie

And no, this “guy” isn’t someone named Uwe Boll (Thank God), who seems to have his grubby hands on every videogame ever made with the potential (and some not so much) to be turned into a movie or two. Variety reports that the company Guy Walks Into a Bar have acquired feature rights to the videogame “Painkiller” (not to be confused with “Painkiller Jane”) from DreamCatcher Interactive, and hopes to turn it into a movie. “Painkiller” is a FPS (first-person-shooter) launched in 2004, and was followed up by “Painkiller: Hell Wars” for the Xbox in 2006.

Game centers on a character stranded between heaven and hell who’s forced to become a pawn in the battle between good and evil.

Basically, flimsy story, lots of running around killing people, monsters, demons, and what have you.

It sounds like my kind of game, but unfortunately I’ve never played “Painkiller”. Hey, there’s only so many FPS I can handle in a given year, you know.

On the bright side, at least Uwe Boll has nothing to do with it.
