I’ve never read the J.R.R. Tolkien book “The Hobbit”, so I don’t know if it explains it in there, but why does the dragon care about gold? I don’t get it. I’ve seen TV spots for the movie where Smaug the dragon is like bathing in gold. What’s the deal with that? Seems weird to me, but then again, I don’t know any dragons personally, so what do I know.
Anyhoo. For those of you who can’t get enough of the Smaugster, check out more posters from the upcoming Peter Jackson movie. This is the second of the all-new trilogy, with the third one new out next year. I honestly have no idea how Jackson does these movies. I imagine lesser mortals would take years to make one of them, but ol Peter Jackson just whips them out like it ain’t no thang.
Having survived the beginning of their unexpected journey, the Company continues East, encountering along the way the skin-changer Beorn and a swarm of giant Spiders in the treacherous forest of Mirkwood. After escaping capture by the dangerous Wood-elves, the Dwarves journey to Lake-town, and finally to the Lonely Mountain itself, where they must face the greatest danger of all—a creature more terrifying than any other; one which will test not only the depth of their courage but the limits of their friendship and the wisdom of the journey itself—the Dragon Smaug.
Starring Starring: Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Evangeline Lilly, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Luke Evans.
Smaug wants his gold this December 13th, 2013.
