I’m frankly shock HBO’s “Game of Thrones” is as popular as it is. I get why people who have read the George R.R. Martin books would be nuts for it, but the average, non-book reading fan? How do people wrap their minds around the fact that it’s been three seasons now and the show’s three very different storylines still haven’t even come close to merging yet? It’s like watching three completely different shows going on at the same time. I guess TV watchers are a lot more patient than I have given them credit for. Go figure.
Anyhoo. “The Hangover’s” Zach Galifianakis was “Saturday Night Live’s” guest host, and one of the skits that’s been burning up the Interwebs has Galifianakis in a green scaly dragon costume on a fictional game show called “Game of Game of Thrones”. Galifianakis, of course, is his usual Galifianakis self, with the gag being that he’s such a “Game of Thrones” fan, he knows everything about the show but nothing about, well, anything else.
Also, there is a surprise guest appearance at the end.
(By the way, “Saturday Night Live” should do all their skits this way, with the actors facing the camera so we can’t see them blatantly staring off screen at cue cards throughout the whole skit. That always bugs the hell out of me.)
