A Nightmare on Elm Street Remake, Freddy vs. Jason 2 Update
A Nightmare on Elm Street (Remake, 2010) Movie, Freddy vs. Jason 2 Movie, Horror Movie News — By Nix on January 6, 2008
New Line Cinema is so proud of itself with the success of Rob Zombie’s recent “Halloween” reboot that they want to do it again — except this time with Wes Craven’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street”. Hey, why the hell not? If remaking something like “Halloween”, a seminal piece of work in its genre, was no big deal to the suits, redoing “Nightmare”, which rates slightly lower on the horror chain, isn’t even a question. And what about “Freddy vs. Jason 2″?
More:
This afternoon I got some official news from a source inside at New Line Cinema as to what exactly is going on with our favorite horror icons, Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees. Our anonymous source tells us that as of right now, today, this very moment there are NO immediate plans for Freddy vs Jason 2. Bummer. But there is some good news! We’ve been informed that New Line is actively developing another Nightmare on Elm Street movie. Everything you’ve heard before has been scrapped (prequel) and they’re back at square one. Ideas are being thrown around without anything solid locked down.
That’s too bad, because I’ve been looking forward to a “Freddy vs. Jason 2″, especially if they throw in Ash, as was the rumor all those years ago.
But a remake of “A Nightmare on Elm Street”? Urgh. It’s Hollywood. I would spend the rest of this column calling them devoid of originality and all that trite, but what’s the point?

Okay. this ticks me off. those brainless bastards at New Line Cinema are gonna screw themselves over with a Nightmare on elm street remake. nightmare on elm street is wes craven’s and robert englund’s baby, and they wanna trash it. Robert englund may be gettin old but he still has what it takes to make a great film. i was really hoping for a freddy vs. jason sequel that might have michael myers in it. that would kick ass anyday better than a remake. atleast make a prequel to the original. is that too much to ask? but makes no differance. i hope i die in my dreams before i get tempted to see this remake cause if my dreams dont, the remake will probly. sure its easy as heck to remake halloween and friday the 13th, but dont expect anyone to replace robert englund. want to impress me? remake somthing like hellraiser or childs play again.
OK
dude freddy you were right on everything but the idea of it being easy to remake friday the 13 it took them years. but i do understand you cant remake nightmare on elm street just because new line belives you can. and im with you on the sequel to freddy vs jason.
yeah child’s play is goood! i wanna see chucky without tiffany’s ass and their babies lol chucky is bad than a mofo. he can cuss, shoot guns, stab like jason and whatever. he’s on the top ten list among jason and freddy.
chucky rocks, I’m for the remake though as long as they keep Brad Dourif as him.
Yea remakes suck,
I mean, the halloween one was OK, but the freddy series is a classic. If anything whip up a Freedy Vs jason 2, Please! EVeryone would love to see that, and please get robert to play freddy, serously. They shouls concentrate more and freddy and jason fighting/gore and less on wtf everyday teenagers do….
THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT MICHAEL WILL BE IN THE FREDDY VS. JASON 2 MOVIE THAT MOVIE WILL ROCK OUR WORLD IN 2010
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE ALL 3 PEOPLE KILL EACH OTHER IN 2010
It is true that there is no one that could replace Robert Englund as Freddy. There is no need for a remake because there is nothing wrong with the original. If people want to see it they can buy it on DVD. Doing a Jason vs Freddy 2 there should be someone that would have something to gain from the violence these two great icons can dish out (old school Chucky or a evil company like umbrella lol).
didn’t they basically remake the original with New Nightmare anyway? I’ve always been afraid that they would bring Freddy back without Robert Englund, and I say that would be a big no no.
New nightmare wasn’t a remake jay, it was a movie suposely done with the real people behind de characters, a story sideways with the other movies story. There were the movies, and that was suposed to be reality.
A remake isn’t that bad you people. of course robert englund is the soul of freddy but lets face it, englund never was so busy making movies in is entire life, (2001 maniacs 2 and 3 and other movies). Besides, whats the point of a remake if there’s the same actors?
Freddy vs Jason for me sucks ass! I’m a huge fan of freddy and jason but…that simply wont do any good for any of the characters, too much hollywood, to few terror as it’s suposed to be.
Sincerely, go for the remake, of course old school will be better but lets face it, with todays special efects gore in nightmare on elm street will be awesome…(if they keep the original script)
ive heard so much about freddy vs. jason 2 i just want to see them make the damn movie already and i hope they put micheal in it so the idiot can get his ass killed by jason.which i know for certain he will.
Nightmare on Elm St. remake? I say bring it on! And while they’re at it, they can do remakes of the whole series too. Besides that, lets bring back the short lived “Freddy’s Nightmares” tv series as well.
Make it Freddy rules. Does anyone else think that Freddy Krueger and Carnage(from spider-man) have similar personalities.
If there going to do another nightmare on elm street movie i have an idea they should make it a prequal to the series have robert englund in it as freddy but have it take place befor he is burned to death by the parents make it about his crimes when he was alive show his life and all the children he killed and him killing his wife because she found out what he did his daughter being taken away and put in the foster care and have the trial have him freed and show the parents forming the mob that burns and killes him then you would have the complete story leading up to the nightmare series and also i think if they do that they should have wes craven direct it if he wanted to because he directed the first one and did a great job on it and new nightmare too.
