Well get a load of him: Freddy Krueger is back in the very first trailer from the Michael Bay-produced remake of “A Nightmare on Elm Street”. The first thing you’ll notice is how many very cool music video-esque scenes there are. No surprise, then, that the film’s director is Samuel Bayer, a veteran of visually pleasing music videos. The second thing is, although I loved the idea of casting Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy (Rorschach!), seeing a kinda short, stumpy Freddy walking around killing teens is, er, a little strange. Of course, after Robert Englund everyone will look a little “off”, but I hadn’t expected for the Krueger character to look so different while still essentially looking so similar, if that makes any sense. Anyways, the first ever trailer for the “A Nightmare on Elm Street” remake (via Myspace) is below for your horrific viewing pleasure. And look, they even kept the bath scene. Nice.
A re-imagining of the horror icon Freddy Krueger, a serial-killer who wields a glove with four blades embedded in the fingers and kills people in their dreams, resulting in their real death in reality.
Starring Jackie Earle Haley, Rooney Mara, Kyle Gallner, Katie Cassidy, Thomas Dekker, Kellan Lutz, Clancy Brown, Connie Britton, Lia D. Mortensen, Charles E Tiedje, and directed by Samuel Bayer.
Freddy’s coming for you April 30, 2010.
