I have more fingers on one hand than their are good remakes, we do not need more regurgitated demographic remakes designed to make a buck off older fans gullibility and a franchise name for a gauranteed percentage of a gross. Remake filmmaking is the worst whorish untalented foray into filmmaking, worse than sequel making as It requires No TALENT WHASOEVER. yeah I said it. People are nothing but moneywhores that make remakes. Micheal Bay sucks ass so badly for doing this Im not going to see another movie Micheal Bay is involved with.(esp after transformers 2 and gi joe lol).Micheal bay is the ed wood of hollywood making a buck by spending 890 million in trailer promotions so he can make 200 mill and look successfull.

Wes was right about dropping the pedofreddy storyline that Bay is going this route realy dumbs down the character. We already have micheal jackson we dont need to turn freddy into micheal jackson.

If you want a fan rally its probably on that point, no parents would have been comfortable taking thier teens to see this as it made a buck as a buddy teen/parent movie. theirs gross and theirs scary.

I cant believe how many jackiefans are like hohum about this story idea and stoked having jackie play pedofreddy but I see what a degenerative piece of * watchmen is as a pregokiller main hero with unheroic heroes and I realize films today are disposable movies, worth one watch esp when i look at films like the wife stealing james bond reboot, i roll my eyes and just pop in an oldy that has some character value.

wait, these guys are thinking of remaking every noted horror movie. that wouldn’t include one about a scary ass red-headed doll that has the soul of a serial killer, does it. i swear, i will haunt their asses if i die from being scared to death. and its unfortunate that robert englund’s not gonna play freddy.

This is James Gilks (owner of SerialKillerCalendar.com). Let me start by saying that I love Robert Englund. He is a talented actor and a treasure to the horror industry. That said, I really hope that he is not cast as Freddy in the new Nightmare on Elm St remake. I understand that this is practically blasphemy in the horror fan community. It is tantamount to saying that Hellraiser 1 was slow and poorly made (which it is but thats another story). The truth is that Freddy Kruger has the potential to be one of the most terrifying and truly lasting characters in horror movie history. He is a serial killer pedophile with knifes for fingers that can get to you at your most vulnerable (when your sleeping). This is pure nightmare fuel (no pun intended) and put in the right hands, this franchise could be reborn as something extremely horrific that will stand the test of time. Now, Robert Englund brings a great humor to the role and helps to dull the edge of the atrocities on the screen. I love this and the original Nightmare on Elm St series is one of my favorites. But is that really what we want? Do we truly need the horror and sheer disturbingness of this character desensitized by one liners and cheep visual gags. I honestly don’t think we do. I am hoping for a gritty, in your face realism that paints Freddy as the monster he really is. I think we would be far more impacted if the film makers drew their inspiration from real life pedophile serial killers such as Albert Fish, Peter Kurten or Carl Panzram. What we need now, in these cold and uncaring times, is a Freddy Kruger that doesn’t pull any punches. We need truly dark and devious creature who can transform our once terrifying bogyman in to something that will really give us nightmares. And, unfortunately, I just don’t think Robert Englund (who I mean no offense to) can bring us this.

Well, that’s just the opinion of someone who runs a company devoted to selling serial killer merchandise so you can take it or leave it. Sorry but I am the exact opposite. I am a HUGE Elm Street fan and at first I was ok with the prequel approach but a RELAUNCH is far better because if it is done right that means MORE movies down the road.

I’m hyped up for it.
I have liked all the remakes so far,on the exception of TCM origins,because it was virtualy the same as the first remake.

I think it’s a good idea to start fresh with a lot of these franchises mainly because the stories are so dragged down in continuity,it’s hard to keep mass appeal when half the people in the theatre don’t even know what in the hell is going on.
Lets face it.
Us fanboys aren’t considered too much into the big picture when they create these remakes.
WHy?
Because we are going to bitch about what their doing anyway!
Halloween needed a remake badly.
I mean 4,5,6, totaly went out the window with H20,because it didn’t follow the past installments.Then in the following film we get Busta Rymes doing Kung Fu on Michael Myers.

Jason ended up in space,and while I admit the Nightmere franchise has been handled the best,the only logical thing to do is make a sequel to Freddy VS Jason.

After a while these characters have became parodies of themselves.
A revamp keeps them alive.

I think these guys are outta control…..yes the re-make of Texas Chainsaw was good..not great but good….plus the TCM franchise was DEAD…Halloween wasn’t in need of a remake and it wasn’t even close to bein a dead franchise..but it was good..you gotta remember why Zombie did it….Halloween inspired him as well as TCM to do House of 1,000 and Devils Rejects so that was his homage if you will…..Friday the 13th has needed a face lift since part 7 where it just got rediculos after that(which is a shame cuz Kane MADE Jason popular again…but I find myself likein Kane less and less everyday) and New Line puttin the nailz in the coffin when they took it over….But Nightmare..HELL NO those movies wether I like them or not is nowhere close to bein dead and has WAY more potential as a sequel and NOONE can play Freddy like Rob Englund NOONE….He wears burnt make-up are they afraid he’s too old or somethin….Basically theses guys need to come up with their own killer and their own story line and stop makin money off Wes Craven and Tobe Hooper and Steve Cunningham….the F-13 remake should be their last re-make

jesus H christ.. nightmare 1 was a classic please dont ruin it by making a cheezy remake..and tara ried? lol…she’s beautiful and all but.. not nightmare material.. i wish these “re-makers” would let the fans decide whats best for the movie… its a classic for a reason..shit..any movie that came out within the last 10 years is terrible.. texas chainsaw massacre was allright but.. i still prefer the original..the best thing about the movies from 80’s is the originality to them.. not this computer/digital remake shit..im all for a good horror movie..and the 70’s and 80’s have that intense realism to them cuz there was no computer animation to mimic what today’s movies use…there was more hands on work making movies in the 80’s.. I also heard that Ghostbusters was coming back to threatres..and thats great! as long as harold ramis,dan akroyd,bill murray,ernie hudson are the main characters.. i could imagin other ppl playing ghostbusters..anyway getting back to what i was saying/ but like i said within the last 10 years… the only decent movie has been “Saw”, and that in itself wasn’t all that great.. the plot was well thought of but..anyway im done.. i got what i had to say out .. spoke my mind.. if you dont agree thats fine.. but any horror movie fan would agree with me.. no questions asked..

I heard rumors that they wnt one of these guys as freddy… Edward Norton, Johnny Depp, Marilyn Manson, Robert Knepper, Javier Bardem, Jim Carrey, Tim Curry, Eric Stoltz, Crispin Glover, Brad Dourif, Bill Moseley, or Anthony Head… i think depp would be a good choice… he was in the original!
