A Trio of Guys Want to Play Finnick Odair in the Hunger Games Sequel

Catching Fire Novel CoverLooks like casting on Lionsgate’s “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” is ramping up, with the studio said to be currently stalemate between three notable actors for the role of Finnick Odair, one of the major new faces that will be introduced in the franchise.

Among the actors vying for the part is Armie Hammer, soon to be the Lone Ranger in “The Lone Ranger” with Johnny Depp. He’s in contention along with up-for-everything’s Taylor Kitsch, currently bombing his way through Hollywood studio action films. The two will have to beat out “Tron: Legacy’s” Garrett Hedlund for the gig, though. Hedlund, of course, was the Taylor Kitsch of 2010.

Of course, just because these three names surfaced as being frontrunners for “Catching Fire”, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are the only ones in contention. So, yeah, hedging of bets there, ahem.

So who is this Finnick Odair fellow that all the kids want to play? Well, Odair is a former Games winner, who, along with other previous Hunger Games winners like (SPOILER ALERT!) Katniss and Peeta, are forced to return to the arena for the 75th Annual Hunger Games. Odair becomes a major character beyond “Catching Fire”, and is considered something of a pretty boy. It would actually end up being a pretty complex role.

As you’ll recall, Robert Pattinson was previously rumored for the role, before he confirmed it was all bogus.

Shooting on “Caching Fire” is set for later this year, with a November 22, 2013 release date penciled in. “I am Legend’s” Francis Lawrence will be directing, having taken over for Gary Ross, who directed the first “Hunger Games” before setting sail for greener pastures.

“Hedlund, of course, was the Taylor Kitsch of 2010.”–Classic

Having just finished the book trilogy over the weekend as well as watching and liking “John Carter”, I’d like to see Kitsch get the part. He can’t possibly bring the jinx along and he at least stands out against Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson more than Hedlund and Hammer (which kind of sounds like a detective agency when I think about it).

LOL that’s awesome. Hedlund and Hammer Detective Agency. We look good, we solve crimes.

I hope Kitsch doesn’t end up doing direct-to-DVD action films in a few years. Honestly, the kid deserves better.

Definitely, which is why a support role in a bomb-proof franchise is the best place to start a rebound. I’m still hoping to see him play Gambit again at some point; in a perfect world it’d be a Ryan Reynolds “Deadpool” movie, but a bit part in “The Wolverine” or future “X-men: First Class” works, too.

With the endless abundance of retards who “Constantly” ride the bandwagon of hate and write articles putting kitsch down for every movie that they deem a flop without even seeing the movies as with John Carter, then Battleship and probably the upcoming Savages. Seems like there is a slue of Hollywood hate for Kitsch no matter what role he takes and even making fun of him even if its rumor he’s supposedly attached to a project.

I think Matt O’Leary should play Finnick!! He is so hott and ridiculously talented. He’s in Lone Ranger with Armie Hammer … he’s amazing. That’s it.
