So what makes the new show Clive Barker’s Hotel so scary? Well for one, their free towels are itchy and they don’t make your bed. Talk about horrific! But perhaps Clive Barker can conjure up more terrifying stories with the help of “Feast” writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, who along with Barker have sold the script for Clive Barker’s Hotel (the full title) to ABC, who outbid Fox and Warner Bros. to get into the Clive Barker biz.
According to THR, the script centers on a series of ghoulish incidents at a haunted hotel. Which goes without saying. I mean, it’s got Clive Barker’s name in the title, for crying out loud. What else is going to happen at this hotel but ghoulish and bad things?
Since his name is already a part of the title, Clive Barker will of course produce, and it’s looking like McG will also board the project as a producer. McG has a decent track record on TV; he’s one of the producers on the CW’s excellent Supernatural TV show.
The script’s writers, Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton were responsible for the Project Greenlight horror movie “Feast”, and they also co-wrote the last three “Saw” movies. Dunstan also recently made his directorial debut on another one of their horror titles, “The Collector”.
I’m guessing this will be a backdoor pilot for a potential series, since I don’t think ABC is still in the “Movie of the Week” business, are they?
