Abrams and Cruise Prepping Mission Impossible 4
Mission: Impossible 4 (2011) Movie — By Nix on June 11, 2009
I kinda liked “Mission: Impossible 3″. Sure, it didn’t exactly set the world on fire or prove to be the return to glory that Tom Cruise (and not to mention all his financial backers) was hoping for, but it did pave the way for J.J. Abrams to show his mettle as a feature-film director, leading to his gig at the helm of the latest “Star Trek”. And yeah, it was pretty fun, too, and that’s never a bad thing when you’re talking about an action franchise. So what’s the latest word on another “MI” movie? The buzz is a-buzzing today.
Confirmation that an “MI4″ is in progress comes from Abrams himself, who declares that he and Tom Cruise are currently working out the story for the latest movie (via Screencave):
“I am incredibly honored that Tom has invited me back as a producer on ‘Mission Impossible 4′…Tom and I have come up with a really cool idea we are pursuing.”
No word on Abrams returning to the director’s chair, though in the aftermath of “Star Trek”, I’m sure Cruise is dying to convince him. So what’s up next for Ethan Hunt? I guess we’ll just have to wait…

Cruise was great last year in Tropic Thunder and Valkyrie, and Abrams really did well with Star Trek and Lost. Seems like a win to me!
I thought I’ve read somewhere Tom Cruise wants a different director and different style for each Mission Impossible movie, what happened to that.
