Yes, it’s true, actual movie news concerning Guy Ritchie’s much-anticipated (no, silly, not because Guy Ritchie is directing it, but because Robert Downey Jr. is starring in it, and this has the makings of a grand adventure, as my old pappy would say, which is odd because he doesn’t really talk that way, but I digress) re-imagining of “Sherlock Holmes”. So what’s the big news? That Jude Law is currently in negotiations to step into the role of Watson, Sherlock Holmes’ mostly-background, exposition-heavy sidekick. You may recall that Jude Law was the guy who Chris Rock once made fun of during an awards ceremony, only to be defended by the humorless Sean Penn. Yeah, that guy.
Variety says as such:
Law is expected to close a deal shortly to play Watson, the super-sleuth’s sidekick.
Joel Silver, Lionel Wigram, Susan Downey and Dan Lin are producing. Production begins early next month in London.
The film will incorporate the classic tales written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, as well as the comic book “Sherlock Holmes.” Studio is still casting some of the principal roles, including the villain, Blackwood.
Below: Jude Law’s biggest achievement to date? Once going out jogging while, apparently, still sloshed from the previous night’s hard bout of boozing and having sex with hot chicks. Ah, the life of a movie star…
