Add Darren Aronofsky to the Superman Reboot Short List

You can now add Darren Aronofsky’s name to the short list of possible directors to helm Warner Bros. and Christopher Nolan’s “Superman” reboot, scheduled for sometime in 2012, which means it needs to get started by 2011.

(Apparently Ben Affleck was also on the list at one point, but is now no longer involved. Ben Affleck? Yes, Ben Affleck.)

I would love to see Aronfsky direct “Superman”, but I just don’t see it. Then again, I didn’t see it either when Aronfsky was announced as the director of the “Robocop” reboot. This is, after all, the guy who just did “Black Swan”, a supernatural thriller set in the world of … ballet.

And now he wants to direct “Superman”? I just don’t see it happening, though it would be incredibly cool if it did, if just to see what kind of product he would turn out. Then again, maybe I’m just morbid that way.
