After Much Delay, the Sarah Michelle Gellar Chiller Possession Arrives on DVD

Sarah Michelle Gellar in Possession (2009) Movie ImageIf I remember correctly, Joel Bergvall and Simon Sandquist’s 2008 supernatural thriller “Possession” was supposed to appear on North American DVD sometime last year. For whatever reason, the film vanished into the vapor, never to be seen again. For those of you who have been sitting tensely on pins and needles since experiencing the first trailer nearly two years ago, the knowledge that “Possession”, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and Lee Pace, will joyously invade your living rooms on March 9th should be comforting. Will it be worth the wait? Judging from the trailer embedded below, I wouldn’t hold my breath. Anyone who has bore witness to “The Return” knows just how boring Gellar can be. You know it’s true, fanboy. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Here’s the setup:

Newlyweds Jess (Gellar) and Ryan (Landes) seem to have it all until a car accident renders both Ryan and his brother Roman (Pace) comatose. But things spin even more eerily out of control when Roman wakes up and tries to convince Jess that he is her husband. Beside herself with fear and grief, Jess grapples with the one question: could the man before her actually be the man she lost…or does something far more sinister await her in his arms?

The “Posession” DVD comes equipped with alternate and deleted scenes, not to mention an alternate ending and a sticker with the word “SUCKER!” written in a flowery font. Kidding about the sticker. The trailer awaits your undivided attention below.

About Todd Rigney

Todd was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood blockbusters, late-night Cinemax programming, and USA’s “Up All Night,” which may explain why his taste in movies is more than a little questionable. When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided. He's happily married, in his 30's, and totally badass. If you'd like to reach Todd, you can follow him on Twitter or send him email/scoops to todd (at) beyondhollywood.com.
