Ben Affleck is finally getting the ball rolling on his next directorial project “Argo”. After winning praise from critics and movie goers for “The Town”, the actor is putting on his director’s hat once again and has begun the casting process. First up to join “Argo” is Alan Arkin.
According to Variety, Arkin is in negotiations to play Hollywood producer Lester Siegel, an O.S.S. veteran described as equal parts bookie and rabbi.
The film is about how the CIA teamed with the Canadian government to rescue six U.S. dipomats who’d been taken hostage at the American embassy by a group of Iranians in 1979 by pretending that they were part of a Hollywood film crew scouting a movie called “Argo.”
George Clooney and Grant Heslov are producing Warner Bros.’ political drama through their Smoke House banner along with David Klawans (“Nacho Libre”).
