To be perfectly honest with you, I’d rather see Daniel Dae Kim as the star of CBS’s new version of the “Hawaii Five-O” TV series instead of Alex O’Loughlin. Nothing against O’Loughlin, but it’s a show about Hawaiian cops set in Hawaii, so why wouldn’t the lead also be Asian? Yeah, yeah, the original Steve McGarrett was played by a white guy. Don’t give me that b.s. answer, because Hollywood has never had any problems with arbitrarily swapping character races before, so why start now? Anyways, that’s just a personal opinion, and I’m digressing a bit.
The news is that Alex O’Loughlin, late of “Moonlight” and more recently, “Three Rivers”, has signed on to play the new version of McGarrett for CBS, with Daniel Dae Kim as his sidekick, Chin Ho Kelly.
The new “Hawaii Five-O” is being developed by “Fringe” co-creators Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (also responsible for “Transformers”) and “CSI: NY” executive producer/co-showrunner Peter Lenkov.
