Director Alex Proyas (of “The Crow” and “Dark City” fame, and more recently, “Knowing” and “I, Robot”) has his hands full with a gazillion projects at the moment, so it’s probably a good idea that he takes the “Godfather” route when it comes to the new sci-fi action movie “Future Perfect”, for which Proyas is teaming up with fellow Aussie director Shane Abbess to make.
The “Hanna”-ish plot of “Future Perfect”, according to the LATimes, would follow “an older man and a young girl, both eugenically created assassins, must go on the run, in a dynamic that may or may not be that of a father and daughter.”
“May not be that of father and daughter”? That’s an odd way to put it…
Abbess (below) is the writer/director a little-seen (outside of Australia) action movie called “Gabriel” a few years back (the film starred a then-unknown Andy Whitfield, who would later on go to play Spartacus in the Starz Channel’s TV show “Spartacus: Blood and Sand”). Abbess was also once slated to direct “Source Code”, but was eventually replaced by Duncan Jones.
With “Future Perfect”, Abbess will direct from a script by Brian McGreevy and Lee Shipman, while Proyas will produce and, one presumes, help his fellow countryman maneuver the Hollywood land mine.
