“White Collar” and “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” star Alexandra Daddario has landed the plum leading female role in New Line’s “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D”, a sequel that will continue the franchise as a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper’s 1974 original, and basically pretend as if all the sequels and remake (and its sequels) didn’t happen. As with most horror/slasher movies, the female lead is essentially the movie’s main character.
John Luessenhop of “Takers” fame is directing from a script he co-wrote with Kirsten Elms, with Lionsgate and Nu Image handling distribution domestically and abroad when the film opens Oct. 5, 2012.
The plot? Um, guy with a leather mask runs around chainsawing people. You really need to know more than that? Plus, it’s in 3D, because movie studios heard you kids love that stuff.
Daddario, who has had some experience with slasher types (she was in last year’s “Bereavement”), is also expected back for the “Percy Jackson” sequel, “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters”. She’ll be following in the footsteps of Jessica Biel and Jordana Brewster, Leatherface’s most recent Final Girl challengers, and Marilyn Burns before them.
