Alyson Hannigan Doesn’t Get a Buffy Reboot without Joss Whedon Either |

A “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” movie without mastermind Joss Whedon? At all? Not even catering it? Or standing outside the set looking on intently? Not one little bit? Apparently yes, as we’ve been reporting here for a while, the Powers That Be (i.e. the blokes who own the rights to the character) plan on remaking the franchise without original creator Joss Whedon’s involvement. That seems, well, kind of retarded, but hey, I’m not some hotshot Hollywood producer snorting coke off a $1,000 an hour escort’s naked back, so what do I know.
In an interview with Cinema Blend, former “Buffy” star Alyson Hannigan is equally as confused as we are about this reboot sans Whedon.
“Yeah, and that’s a very big mistake in my opinion. I mean if Joss isn’t involved, it’s only the title.”
Why yes, Alyson, without Joss Whedon, it really is just a title. Which makes you wonder who the geniuses are behind the remake, that they think they can get away with this. Really, guys, the vast majority of people who will be seeing this remake in the first place are Joss Whedon fans. Why the hell would they see it if he isn’t involved at all, in any capacity? Do they honestly think “Buffy” by her little lonesome has that big of a draw? Think again, chumps. Of course, if Sarah Michelle Gellar comes back, there’s a chance…
As to Hannigan returning as Willow? The actress, who can currently be seen on “How I Met Your Mother”, which despite the inane title is actually pretty funny, says there’s no chance of that happening without Whedon.
