I think most people realized that when the news of a “Zombieland” TV series surfaced, that original stars like Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Emma Stone weren’t going to be reprising their characters from the 2009 comedy/horror hit.
So it probably comes as no surprise to you that Amazon (yes, the online retailer, now getting into the entertaining business, apparently) has cast its first two actors for its upcoming “Zombieland” TV series, though it is somewhat surprising that the show will continue to follow the adventures of Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita, and Little Rock, the four main characters from the Ruben Fleishcer-directed movie. Does this mean the “Zombieland” movie sequel is dead?
Up first, young actors Tyler Ross and Izabela Vidovic are the first two leads to be cast in “Zombieland” the TV series, with Ross set to play Columbus (Eisenberg’s character from the movie) and Vidovic set for Little Rock (Abigail Breslin’s character).
The show will pick up where the movie left off, with the foursome still trying to survive in a world overrun with the living dead (and of course, searching for those life-sustaining twinkies). Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who wrote the movie, also wrote the pilot episode and will continue on as producers.
Up next: casting for the gun-happy Tallahassee and Wichita, played by Harrelson and Stone, respectively, in the movie.
