Amber Heard and Odette Yustman in Soon the Darkness Remake
And Soon the Darkness (Remake) Movie, Horror Movie News — By Nix on March 5, 2009 |
Having tapped out Asia for their horror remakes, it appears Europe is the next target for pillaging by Hollywood. Sam Raimi’s already doing it, and now someone has taken a look at the UK and found reason to remake a 1970 British horror movie called “And Soon the Darkness”. That same someone has hired blossoming young lasses Amber Heard and Odette Yustman to star, with Heard also producing.
In the original, two American girls on a bike-riding trip in a remote part of France run into trouble when one of them goes missing, and the other must find her before darkness falls and she turns into a werewolf. No, not really. I’m assuming she gets kidnapped by unfriendly locals and the other girl has a limited amount of time to rescue her. THR reports that the remake will be set in Argentina instead, because let’s face it, Argentinians with machetes are scarier than snobby French people with berets.
Lizzie Friedman, Karen Lauder, Deborah Marcus, Chris Clark, and Flora Fernandez are producing for money men Abandon Pictures and Studio Canal.
The original was directed by Robert Fuest, and starred Pamela Franklin and Michele Dotrice.
