Amber Heard, last seen opposite Johnny Depp in “The Rum Diaries” and currently playing Miss San Antonio in Robert Rodriguez’s “Machete Kills”, has signed on opposite Kevin Costner in the actioner “Three Days to Kill”.
“Three Days to Kill”, set to be directed by McG (“Terminator Salvation”), will find Costner playing “a dying Secret Service agent who decides to retire in order to reconnect with his estranged family.”
Heard will join the cast as “the woman who offers him access to an experimental drug that could save his life in exchange for one last assignment, which Costner must complete while coping with the drug’s hallucinatory side effects.”
McG (whose real name is Joseph McGinty Nichol, by the way) recently directed the Chris Pine-Tom Hardy oddball action flick “This Means War”, one of those movies that sounded good, but didn’t seem to have much of a point. Hell, it didn’t even have much of plot. Let’s hope he does better with this one.
He’ll be doing the honors this time around for Luc Besson’s EuropaCorp, based on a script by Besson and Adi Hasak. Odd that Besson’s usual partner in crime Robert Mark Kamen is nowhere in sight. Usually when Besson does something that isn’t French, it’s usually with Kamen on hand.
In any case, Hailee Steinfeld (“True Grit”) was also previously in talks to play Costner’s daughter in the film.
