American Gladiators: The Movie? Sure, Why the Hell Not.

Because obviously watching a bunch of roid-up dudes from the wrestling world acting in action movies wasn’t enough, Hollywood has decided that you now want to see roid-up dudes and dudettes from the world of competition TV show as well. Enter: “American Gladiators The Movie”? Something like that. Obviously the entire idea is ridiculous and silly, which means Hollywood is definitely making it.

The film’s would-be producer, Scott Mednick, tells Variety:

“I look forward to creating a compelling story that launches a whole new set of characters.”

I really have no idea what that means. I guess they’re going to create a fictional movie set within the world of musclebound guys who slap around little Everyday Joes who are invariably half their size. Yeah, that’s a real challenge there, watching Godzilla wrestling Steve Urkel to the mat.

But anyways, I have no idea how this is going to work. Is the show that popular that it could actually support a movie?
