Here’s your very first look at Nicolas Winding Refn’s heist/revenge thriller “Drive”, starring Ryan Gosling as a Hollywood stuntman by day, getaway driver by night. Does he do it because he needs the money? Not really. He does it because he’s a driver. That’s all he does. That’s, like, the movie’s tagline and everything. The film will be making its premiere over at Frogland, and it’s from Cannes that we get this first two-minute clip from “Drive”.
“Drive” is the story of a Hollywood stunt driver by day (Gosling), a loner by nature, who moonlights as a top-notch getaway driver-for-hire in the criminal underworld. He finds himself a target for some of LA’s most dangerous men after agreeing to aid the husband of his beautiful neighbor, Irene (Mulligan). When the job goes dangerously awry, the only way he can keep Irene and her son alive is to do what he does best—Drive!
Co-starring Carey Mulligan, Christina Hendricks, Ron Perlman, Bryan Cranston, Albert Brooks, and Oscar Isaac.
Getting away September 16, 2011.
