Anchorman 2 is Dead, So Says Adam McKay

I gotta admit, I’ve never seen Will Ferrell’s “Anchorman”. I heard it was funny, though, and people certainly seems to love parodying it on talk shows, TV shows, and what have you. One of my favorite shows on ESPN, Sportsnation, has the male host “play” the movie’s character Ron Burgundy all the time. But anyways, if you were waiting for an “Anchorman 2″, you can probably stop waiting now.

Director Adam McKay, who directed “Anchorman” and “The Other Guys”, both with Will Ferrell, tweeted this today (via):

So bummed. Paramount basically passed on Anchorman 2. Even after we cut our budget down. We tried.

He later added:

To all who asked: no we can’t do Anchorman 2 at another studio. Paramount owns it.

So there you have it, “Anchorman” fans. There will be no “Anchorman 2″. Well, at least until Paramount changes their mind. They’re a movie studio, changing their minds is something they enjoy doing. Lots.

'Wait, what, we're not coming back for a sequel? So unclassy, Paramount, so unclassy.'
