Which, uh, might be news to the studio, since they’ve already announced not only a third film in the “Amazing Spider-Man” rebooted series, but also a fourth one scheduled for 2018. According to Garfield, who would be in his mid-30s by the time of the fourth movie, maybe the studio shouldn’t count on him slipping on the tights for a fourth time just yet. (Either that, or he’s bucking for a big ol raise.)
In an interview with the cast and crew of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”, Yahoo got this pretty juicy tidbit from Garfield, who when asked about the fourth movie, said this:
I mean I’m under contract for another one after this… as far as a [fourth] one? That’s not anything to do with me. But yeah, I think what we’re doing here is we’ve established the world. And now we get to really play inside that world.
That’s “not anything to do” with him? That’s a pretty odd statement to make. It certainly sounds like he’s not all that enthused about continually playing the webslinger. Or, as mentioned, he could just be looking at a big raise.
Either that, or Garfield knows something we don’t. Didn’t they already kill off Spidey in the comic books and replaced him with some new guys? Maybe they’re planning on doing the same thing in the new rebooted series? Now that would be a hell of a twist. (Though I doubt if the studio is ballsy enough to do that.)
So what can you expect in Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” opening Summer next year? Lots of cool comic book shots, for one:
