Well this is shocking news. The Starz cable network’s original show “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” has been plugging along at a pretty breezy clip, with a second season already renewed even before the first season aired. Now comes news that the show’s star Andy Whitfield has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. As a result, Whitfield will take time off the show to begin treatment immediately, which means production on “Spartacus” will be momentarily halted.
Production on the second season will re-commence shooting in New Zealand once Whitfield has been cleared to return.
