If the proposed “X-Men: First Class” movie gets made, Anna Paquin says she’d love to come back as Rogue, the character she played in all three previous “X-Men” movies. Currently plying her trade on TV and playing kissy faces with vampires, Paquin would just like to request one thing: give her something to do besides look adorable, for God’s sake. And she’s right, too. For a character that can absorb pretty much anyone’s abilities just by touching them, Rogue sure didn’t get to do a whole lot in the trilogy.
Speaking to IGN, Paquin said this:
“Absolutely. Yeah,” she told us. “I would hope I could do a little bit more action next time, though. I kind of find it ironic that I did three big action films and did, actually, no action whatsoever. I mean I got some really amazing emotional story moments, but I didn’t really get to do the physical stuff.”
She continued, “You know, as much as I loved doing those films I was kind of like, ‘OK, so when do I get to beat someone up? When do I get to steal some powers?’ You know Sookie [Paquin's True Blood character] gets to do more action than Rogue ever did. So I’m just putting that out there. More action please, for next time.”
“X-Men: First Class” was written by Josh Schwartz, and its roster is said to include the younger set of “X-Men” characters, Iceman, Rogue, Angel, Colossus, Jubilee and Shadowcat. Basically a Mutant High School 90210 sort of feel, if you will.
