Whoa. Listen to Anne Hathaway. Who knew the little lady had this in her? I didn’t even know she could sing. But apparently she can, and very well, too. Check out the first teaser trailer for “King’s Speech” director Tom Hooper’s latest, the big-screen adaptation of Victor Hugo’s hugely popular play “Les Miserables”. I haven’t been keeping up with the progress of the adaptation, but if Hathaway is singing, I’m guessing everyone else is singing, too, which means this is is a musical? Hunh. Didn’t know that. I really need to keep up with this stuff a little more.

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, “Les Misérables” tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption–a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.

Starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne, Amanda Seyfried, Sacha Baron Cohen, Helena Bonham Carter, Aaron Tveit, and Samantha Barks.

The wretched dares to dream December 14, 2012.
