Immortals (2011) Movie Image

You gotta give Tarsem Singh’s “Immortals” credit — it is as slick as slick can be. And that’s pretty damn slick. New TV spot for the film, due out November 11, 2011, titled “Gods and Titans”, cause, well, it’s basically your Cliff Notes version of the film’s story about what happened with those Gods and Titans and they tangled. Spoiler alert: the Gods won! Visually awesome, indeed, but it remains to be seen how well the story holds up. Plus, I know everyone is going gaga over new Superman Henry Cavill, but man, he just doesn’t wow me at all in the footages I’ve seen from “Immortals”. He’s a bit Sam Worthingon stiff, to be perfectly honest with you…

Eons after the Gods won their mythic struggle against the Titans, a new evil threatens the land. Mad with power, King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) has declared war against humanity. Amassing a bloodthirsty army of soldiers disfigured by his own hand, Hyperion has scorched Greece in search of the legendary Epirus Bow, a weapon of unimaginable power forged in the heavens by Ares. Only he who possesses this bow can unleash the Titans, who have been imprisoned deep within the walls of Mount Tartaros since the dawn of time and thirst for revenge. In the king’s hands, the bow would rain destruction upon mankind and annihilate the Gods. But ancient law dictates the Gods must not intervene in man’s conflict. They remain powerless to stop Hyperion…until a peasant named Theseus (Henry Cavill) comes forth as their only hope. Secretly chosen by Zeus, Theseus must save his people from Hyperion and his hordes. Rallying a band of fellow outsiders—including visionary priestess Phaedra (Freida Pinto) and cunning slave Stavros (Stephen Dorff)—one hero will lead the uprising, or watch his homeland fall into ruin and his Gods vanish into legend.

Starring Henry Cavill, Stephen Dorff, Luke Evans, Isabel Lucas, Kellan Lutz, Joseph Morgan, Freida Pinto, John Hurt, and Mickey Rourke.

Is he english, or did he throw in an accent cause it’s a Greek themed. And what’s up with english accent when you play any sort of Greek character? Shouldn’t it be a Greek accent?

Haven’t you heard? “British” is the catch-all for all “period/ancient movie” accents in Hollywood.

Well, would love to see the dialogue re-dubbed with Greek accents.

Henry is amazing in the film. I saw it at a test screening in Paramus, NJ. He is NOT Sam Worthington, who in my opinion is as stiff as a board. He is really likeable and a badass in the movie.
