Another Batch of Potentially Creepy Images from Sadako 3D

At this point, if you’re not already excited about director Tsutomu Hanabusa’s “Sadako 3D”, then there’s very little chance that the latest batch of images will change your mind. Not that the pictures are particularly weak, mind you — they’re actually the strongest batch released thus far — but it appears that “Sadako” isn’t going to deviate too far from the conventions set forth by its acclaimed predecessor. And while there’s nothing inherently wrong with that, I highly doubt the film will draw in those who have burned themselves out on Asian ghost stories.

On a more positive note, here’s what the film is about:

13 years after the original Ring movie, Sadako returns to the big screen in 3D! Akane is a high school teacher who hears a rumor from her students that there is actual footage on the Internet of someone’s suicide. The footage is said to drive anyone who sees it to also commit suicide. Akane does not believe the rumor at first, but when one of her female students dies after viewing the footage, she and her boyfriend Takanori are fatefully drawn into the horror that has been created by the man who appears in the suicide footage, Kashiwada. Kashiwada’s intention is to create chaos in the world by bringing back Sadako and the power of her curse. Now Akane has to fight against Sadako and Kashiwada to save the lives of herself and Takanori.

“Sadako 3D” stars Satomi Ishihara, Koji Seto, and Yusuke Yamamoto. The film opens in Japanese theaters on May 12, 2012. The rest of us, unfortunately, will just have to wait. Check out the latest images by hightailing it to the gallery below.

When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided.
