Ahead of the film’s September 25, 2012 bow on DVD and Blu-ray, Warner Bros. has released a fresh clip and new images from “Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 1″, the first part of their two-parter adaptation of the Frank Miller seminal limited series comics from the ’80s. The clip features Michael Jackson (no, not that Michael Jackson) providing the voice of Batman’s butler, Alfred, and Peter Weller as Bruce Wayne aka Batman. (Or is that Batman, aka Bruce Wayne, as has been long pointed out by the Joker?)

Batman has not been seen for ten years. A new breed of criminal ravages Gotham City, forcing 55-year-old Bruce Wayne back into the cape and cowl. But, does he still have what it takes to fight crime in a new era?

And yes, in case you were wondering, Superman (voiced by Mark Valley) will indeed show up in Gotham City in “Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 2″, leading to, of course, the superhero battle that has continued to impact the D.C. comic book universe since the ’80s. Well, until they went and conveniently rebooted everything, I mean.
