Another Excellent Four Minute Preview for the New Hawaii Five-O

I gotta admit, the more I’m seeing of CBS’s new “Hawaii Five-O”, the more I’m digging it. I was never a big fan of the original (way, way, WAY before my time), but I don’t recall their Steve McGarrett being an ex-Navy commando. The new series seems to have given Alex O’Loughlin’s McGarrett more of a tragic backstory involving his dad and some terrorist types. I’m sure this will be popping up in the series as it progresses.

The new version has former “Moonlight” star Alex O’Loughlin taking up the badge as the new Steve McGarrett, Scott Caan as his right-hand man Danno, “Lost’s” Daniel Dae Kim as Chin Ho, and “Battlestar Galactica’s” Grace Park as Chin Ho’s sister, Kona. Jean Smart shows up as the Governor of Hawaii, and I believe that’s “Boondock Saints” vigilante Norman Reedus in the pilot episode, playing one of the terrorist brothers.

CBS has the show scheduled for this Fall.

You're right, Steve McGarrett was not a Navy commando in the original series, but rather a Reserve Naval Intelligence Officer (he was also a LCDR). Looking forward to seeing the whole remake. I watched the original growing up (my family lived on Oahu during the show's heyday even seeing a few scenes filmed near our apartment) and it was one of my favorite '70s cop shows along with the likes of “CHiPs.”

It would be nice if instead of dragging up old tv shows and turning them into movies, they would actually try to read a book and make a movie based on that.. wait, how about The Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny… that ought to be good for about 3 or 4 movies/// good story line, dialog, plot.. twists and turns, intrigue, lots of violence, plenty of spinoff opportunities..
