Another Good Look at Henry Cavill in his New Superman Suit – UPDATED

Superman ComicZack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” is still shooting their Smallville scenes over in Illinois (apparently there will be LOTS of action taking place in ol Smallville considering how long they’ve been there), and it’ll be a while yet before we get Supes rebooted on the big screen again. The movie has been scheduled for 2013, which is a hell of a long way off, and makes you wonder if the studio isn’t making a mistake waiting so long. Sure, by delaying the film for a whole year they stay the heck away from “The Dark Knight Rises” and “The Avengers”, but come on, 2013??? That seems a tad overkill.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS BELOW

In any case, here’s another very good look at Henry Cavill as Superman in costume sans the overwhelming dark shadows/tones of the official image released a month ago. Not sure if Cavill took off the cape in-between shots or if ol Supes will be getting that cape of his ripped off at some point in the movie. Either way, I wouldn’t want to meet Cavill in a dark alley. Dude is ripped.

“Man of Steel” co-stars Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Christopher Meloni, Julia Ormond, Antje Traue, and Harry Lennix, and takes off again June 14, 2013. Yes, 2013. That’s a looooooooong ways off.

I don’t mind the look, but I think they should have used a brighter blue, red and yellow. People LOVE colour, it is a myth that colour doesn’t work on the big screen, look at spidermans suit in the old films and in the new films, it is bright red and a nice shade of royal blue!! These are the colours Jesus and Mary wore, because they represent the perfection of the inner yin-yang, the inner masculine (red, element, fire) and feminine (blue, element water). They are colours associated with the yin-yang, with balance and the force of good. But dull colours give the impression of evil, or corruption. So, I’m not happy with the colours.

You guys are all such haters. Who gives a shit if the suit is a little darker. Who cares if there’s no red undies on the outside anymore. You’re telling me that if you were a superhero with all that strength and those powers, you would ruin it with some gay bright colored suit? No one would take you seriously. Someone with those kind of powers needs to look like a badass. And I’m diggin this suit.

nice suit , you idiot always have something negative to put…

Agreed – at the end of the day he’s wearing a blue and red “s” shield suit – that’s more than Tim Burton was going to give us, and even more importantly I care about them getting the character right.

I love the way everyone declares that he “should” be dressed in a certain way – as though some core truth has been violated by darkening the suit. Things needed to be changed in order to make this work, deal with it – otherwise we would get a superman in a navy suit with a loose fitting cape, black in his “s” punching out kkk members, gangsters and men who beat their wives… Because that who Superman was originally. Still think nothing should change? Grow up!
