Alien shenanigans are definitely afoot in a trailer for Edgar Wright’s “The World’s End”, starring his buddies Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. The trailer is selling the movie as the the third part of the Wright-Pegg-Frost trilogy, starting with “Shaun of the Dead”, then continuing with “Hot Fuzz”, and now concluding with “The World’s End”. Well, hopefully not concluding for good. These three guys are so good together I wouldn’t mind seeing a whole series of movies with them. Maybe Wright can wrangle roles for Pegg and Frost in that upcoming “Ant-Man” for Marvel he’s supposed to be making for the last couple of decades.
Anyways, until then, check out the new trailer for “The World’s End”. It’s awesome. And hilarious. It’s awe-larious.
20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King (Simon Pegg), a 40-year-old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
Starring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine, Eddie Marsan, and Rosamund Pike.
