Another Image from Roland Emmerich’s 10,000 BC
10000 BC (2008) Movie — By Nix on November 28, 2007 |
Haven’t heard a whole lot from Roland Emmerich’s “10,000 BC” historical action flick since the teaser trailer debuted earlier in July. As far as I know, we still haven’t gotten the full trailer yet. The film, starring Camilla Belle and Steve Strait (pictured below) as cavewoman and caveman, respectively, is due out March 7, 2008, and here’s a new image from the movie, plus the poster that came out earlier.
It was a time when man and beast were untamed and the mighty mammoth roamed the earth. A time when ideas and beliefs were born that forever shaped mankind. 10,000 B.C. follows a young hunter (Steven Strait) on his quest to lead an army across a vast desert, battling saber tooth tigers and prehistoric predators as he unearths a lost civilization and attempts to rescue the woman he loves (Camilla Belle) from an evil warlord determined to possess her.

This movie looks really, really cool, but also appears to pay fast and loose with history and pre-history, for that matter. That’s sort of a dangerous trend with historical films, at least in my opinion.
It’s Roland Emmerich, B.L. “Historical accuracy” (or any type of accuracy, for that matter) has no place in his vocabulary. I just hope it’s dumb fun and keep my expectations low like that going in.
