Another Look at Chris Evans in Full Captain America Costume

You haven’t gotten tired of Captain America already, have you? Good, because here’s another very good, well-lit shot of Chris Evans in the full get-up. And don’t forget to tune into Super Bowl Sunday for your first taste of the “Captain America: The First Avenger” trailer. I suspect the trailer will be online either before the game or immediately after, or thereabouts.

Horrified by the newsreel footage of the Nazis in Europe, Steve Rogers is inspired to enlist in the army. However, because of his frailty and sickness, Rogers gets rejected, but later offered the opportunity to take part in a special experiment called Operation: Rebirth. After weeks of tests, Rogers is administered the Super-Solider Serum and bombarded by “vita-rays,” awakening from the treatment as Captain America. Armed with his indestructible shield and battle savvy, Captain America embarks on a war against evil.

Starring Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Stanley Tucci, Tommy Lee Jones, Hayley Atwell, Richard Armitage, Sebastian Stan, Dominic Cooper, Natalie Dormer, Neal McDonough, Toby Jones, JJ Feild and directed by Joe Johnston.

Saving the world July 22, 2011.

Cool Stories From Zergnet

  • Shazam!

I know I’m going to get wranged on for being a “hater”… but does anyone else think he looks too young? Like “high school” too young? I know he’s supposed to be recruit age and all… but Cap. is supposed to be a leader… he looks like he’s a teenager not someone ready to lead a group of scared men into battle screaming, “What are you ladies waiting for? Christmas?”

I know it’s too late and all, but this is the internet so I get to say whatever I want, and I still say Neal McDonough would have made a fantastic Cap.

    There… I’m done.

I agree to a point. They should have cast a gruffer looking guy from the get go. However, everything that I’ve seen from this movie has looked great. Is Chris Evans the first guy that popped into my head when I heard that they were making a Cap movie? No. Then again Heath Ledger was the last person I would have guessed to deliver an epic Joker and that seemed to work ouy pretty well for everyone.

    • Shazam!

Fair enough… but I will counter that Joe “Jurassic Park III” Johnston is no Christopher “I only make amazing movies” Nolan.

I have a heck of a lot more faith in Chris Nolan to make his actors amazing than Johnston who wasn’t able to deliver with an absolutely stellar cast in “The Wolfman” (and I know it wasn’t his project from the start… but still).

It does work for the “young and idealistic” approach. It also allows the character to “mature” and go more “gritty” in future installments. So starting him off this “fresh” works from a narrative POV.

I just hope Evans doesn’t bring his stupid humor into this role like all his other movies. I thought I saw a post where the director said there’s action when it needs action, drama when it needs drama, and humor when it needs humor. I don’t think Evans is funny at all and doesn’t fit the Capt. role at all.

    • B-Flash

I could say the samething about Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, I heard he was gonna play him and just went F this S#*t, then I saw the trailer and went F this S#*t again Van Wilder has powers now, he always acts the same for me.

But I think Chris is gonna do a great job of the character, most of the images i’ve seen he looks pretty damn serious

Looks good to me! I think costume looks perfect for the era. As for Evans as Cap, I think he’s going to shock alot of people the same way that Heath did as the Joker. Granted Johnston isn’t exactly the best known director and has done some crap, but I thinkthis is right up his alley.

    • Juggernaut

I feel the same way. I hope that Johnston delivers. However, like @Shazam wrote above Johnston is no Nolan.

This is starting to get that “Rocketeer” flavor to it. Im not a big fan of Joe Johnson’s work. Someone else should be behind the camera on this film. This is too important of a lead movie because of many other movie spin offs. He is also the Douche that picked Evans for the part. The special effects better have this movie’s back.

dislike the helmet, and the suit, it should be exactly like the comics, and that doesn’t look like chris evans, but it probs is

    • dcmortimer

If he dressed like he did in the comics the Nazi’s would laugh at him, have you seen the 1990 CA movie I rest my case .
