Another Set Of New Pics From Red Riding Hood

Just the other day the second trailer for “Red Riding Hood” from “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke was released. We get it, this is an updated, modern take on a classic fairy tale. Red is all hot and stuff. Maybe my mind is just making the obvious connection, but I’m getting a serious “Twilight” vibe from this. You know, lots of melodrama, quick zooms to a close up of star Amanda Seyfried inhaling deeply, and pasty young dudes with something to hide. And then there’s the whole werewolf thing, so there’s that. Today brings a new collection of photographs that appears to be a mix of behind the scenes pics and stills from the actual film.

Seyfried stars as the titular, red cloaked lass. She’s in love with one guy, but betrothed to another. You can see how that might be a problem. Before Red and her true love have a chance to run off together, one of those pesky werewolves shows up on the scene and all sorts of hell breaks loose.

I’m not entirely convinced about “Red Riding Hood” either way. It could turn out okay, but the more I see, the more I expect a train wreck. And I’m not sure, maybe I missed something, but I’ve yet to see any reference to going to grandmother’s house, so, who knows how faithful they’re going to be to the source material. Never mind, I just looked at IMDB, and Julie Christie is listed as Red’s Grandma, so apparently I haven’t been paying close enough attention.

In addition to Seyfried, the cast includes Gary Oldman, Julie Christie, Lukas Haas, Virginia Madsen, Shiloh Fernandez, and Max Irons, and it opens March 11, 2011.

Here are the pictures from USA Today.

In the new trailer, her mother asks, “Where are you going?”, and she responds, “To Grandmother’s.”

Also, the image of her running toward a cabin, I believe that is her Grandmother’s house.
