Another clip from James Gunn’s “Super”, which features delusional superhero The Crimson Bolt (Rainn Wilson) and his sidekick Boltie (Ellen Page) going to the home of the guy who keyed her car and, um, dispensing some bloody justice. With emphasis on the bloody part. Taking this clip and a previous clip (also added below) into consideration, all I can say is, this is one royally messed up movie and I can’t wait to see it!
When sad sack Frank D’Arbo (Wilson) sees his ex-addict wife (Tyler) willingly snatched by a seductive drug dealer (Bacon), he finds himself unable to cope. But when the finger of God blesses his brain (don’t ask), D’Arbo decides to fight back under the guise of a DIY superhero called Crimson Bolt. In order to get his wife back, he must first fight his way up the criminal ranks, and he begins by taking a monkey wrench to the foreheads of a couple who cut in line at the movies. As Crimson Bolt begins to make the headlines, a young woman from the local comic book store (Page) joins in on the fun as his sexually charged sidekick, Boltie.
Starring Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler, Kevin Bacon, Michael Rooker, and Gregg Henry, and written and directed by James Gunn.
No word yet on a firm release date, but IFC Films has announced that they’ve acquired the film for release sometime in 2011.
