There’s a street down where I live called Fuqua. But it’s pronounced differently from the director of such shoot’em fare as “Shooter” and “Training Day’s” Antoine Fuqua. Mind you, this has nothing to do with anything, but I thought I’d mention it anyway.
Variety has Antoine Fuqua in final negotiations to take over directing chores on Relativity Media’s submarine war movie “Hunter Killer”, the project’s previous director Phillip Noyce having jumped ship. Or, er, jumped sub, I guess would be the more appropriate term.
Based on the novel “Firing Point” by George Wallace and Don Keith, “Hunter Killer” centers on “an untested submarine captain who must work with a Navy SEAL team to rescue Russia’s president, taken prisoner during a military coup. The two sides team to stop a rogue Russian general from igniting World War III.”
Relativity already has the film scheduled for December 21, 2012.
