Apparently, All Sorts of Cool Things Happen When You’re a Millionaire on the Run

Director Kim Ik-Ro’s upcoming South Korean effort “Millionaire on the Run” is being billed as a drama, but for the life of me, I can’t understand why. I mean, I suppose there are dramatic elements to the story, but when I look at the trailer and the poster below, I just see comedy. Has something been lost in translation, you ask? I honestly don’t know. However, this genre confusion hasn’t dampened my excitement for the flick in the slightest. My South Korean fanboy flag is flying high for this one, folks. Then again, when isn’t it?

A synopsis will help explain what’s going on:

A director orders a manager to deliver 5 million dollars of lobbying funds. The director has plans to kill the manager and skim the 5 million dollars for himself, but the manager finds out and fights back.

“Millionaire on the Run” stars Park Jin-Young, Min Hyo-Rin, Jo Sung-Ha, Jo Hie-Bong, and Oh Jung-Se. Look for the flick to begin its theatrical run on July July 19, 2012. You can enjoy the trailer for the upcoming thriller/drama/comedy/action hybrid below.

Todd was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood blockbusters, late-night Cinemax programming, and USA’s “Up All Night,” which may explain why his taste in movies is more than a little questionable. When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided.
